Meet The Show Chairwoman:

Lisa Menz has had a love of cake decorating since she was a little girl.  She can remember doing her 1st cake for her father's birthday when she was about 10 years old.  What a mess it must have been, but how beautiful and colorful it was to her!  Her heart was filled with such pride.  Lisa knew from then on she would pursue this passion of cake decorating.  She really didn't get serious about the art of cake decorating until 1992.  She started by taking Basic Wilton Cake Decorating Classes at Michael's Crafts Stores.  She was hooked and passionate from that point on.

From there Lisa started doing cakes for family and friends & learning her art.  She then turned it into a professional career.  She started by attending Florida ICES Mini-Classes and annual ICES Cake Conventions and taking classes from some of the best sugar artist in the world.

Lisa has been schooled and worked in many mediums of sugar arts, such as fondant, isomalt sugars, gelatin, gumpaste, wafer paper, chocolates and royal icing.  She has been a teacher at Michael’s Crafts stores for Wilton and taught for Central Florida College of Ocala.  She has taught at Days of Sharing here in Florida and been a Demonstrator at the National ICES Cake Conventions.  Lisa is the Founder and Co-Chairman of the 1st ever highly successful Florida ICED Cake Competition held in Ocala, FL in 2011.  She has been consigned by many top golf and country clubs and venues in Ocala and Central Florida area.  She has been featured in multiple articles in Ocala Style Magazine, June 2004 and March 2011.  Lisa works have been featured in national advertising for American Cake Decorating magazine. Lisa has competed in and won cake competitions under top culinary judges and lives by the saying "Let Your Sweet Dreams Become A Reality."  Visit her website at www.CakesbyLisa.net

Meet the Head of Show Committee:

Maureen Woods has had a love of all things food since she can remember; but her love of cake decorating didn't hit her until just a couple of years ago while watching "Ace of Cakes" on tv.  Her first thought was "heck, that looks easy" and headed out to purchase fondant at the nearest hobby shop.  Since that day she's been hooked.  Maureen then took the Wilton Cake Decorating Classes at Michael's Crafts Stores which just wet her decorating appetite, so she went looking for a cake club to join.  Unable to locate one, Maureen decided that the Ocala area was in need and along with the  help of a few new friends, created the "Ocala Cake Club" which meets monthly and continues to grow each month.

Maureen has grown her skills by attending Days of Sharing and ICES mini-classes as well as classes by well known sugar artists for fondant, isomalt sugars, royal icing and by bringing talented instructors to the Ocala area to help her and her fellow cake club members to grow as sugar artists.  While she can be found in the "kitchen" in one fashion or another, her full time job at Statewide Cabinetry keeps her busy designing kitchens for new homes and remodels, she mainly keeps her cake decorating for family, friends and church functions.  You can reach the Ocala Cake Club at OcalaCakeClub@gmail.com and Maureen can be reached at maureenwoodsfl@gmail.com.

Meet the Show and Volunteer Coordinator

Kristin Nast  has always had a passion for food. From a very young age she would pull her step stool over to the kitchen counter and try to make anything she could think of. She was always trying to come up with creative new recipes and ideas for as long as she can remember. Growing up, she always said she was going to be a chef! That dream went to the back burner when Kristin’s love for her horses took over and she decided to open her own equestrian apparel and tack store. After doing that and then being caught up in years of retail management she never forgot her passion for food. Until one day in early 2011, when she was pregnant with her second child, and trying to contact someone to make the baby shower cake it hit her,” I could probably do this myself!” She went and bought a package of fondant and a book on how to use it. The cake turned out to be a delicious success!  That was the very 1st cake creation she made and she was hooked! She signed up for her first Wilton class two months later. Cakery consumed her life and she engulfed herself into learning as much as she could. Just four short months after that first class she was getting so many cake orders from friends and family that she decided to resign from her retail management position so she could open Kristin’s Kakes. Finally after all those years of dreaming, it became a reality!

Kristin continues to pursue her passion for all things cake by attending as many classes and demo’s on all forms of sugar art that she can. She is an active member of the Ocala Cake Club as well as a member of ICES. Visit her website at www.KristinsKakes.com

Cake Celebrations

Winning is great but it is not everything.  We must remember the most important aspect
of what making cakes is truely about, " Celebrations of Life".
Cakes are part of an industry that always celebrates.  A cake is a very important part of any celebration.  Imagine a world without a heartfelt moment, of a child blowing out their birthday candles
and having icing all over their face, cloths, and everywhere.
A world without a wedding cake or an anniversaryor graduation.  You name it, cakes are a  magical part of our lifes celebrations.  Cakes are "A Happy Moment", a joy that lives forever.  Every celebration more often then not has a cake.  Every picture of a cake has people with smiles.  What a sweet world!
